Social media influencer Braden Peters, better known online as “Clavicular,” is facing criminal charges after allegedly livestreaming himself shooting at an alligator in the Florida Everglades.
Peters, a prominent figure in the controversial “looksmaxxing” online community, was charged on April 29 with unlawfully discharging a firearm in public. The incident reportedly took place around March 26 and quickly spread across social media platforms after clips from the livestream circulated online.
Authorities have also charged two additional individuals in connection with the incident: Andrew Morales and Yabdiel Anibal Cotto Torres. Peters is expected to appear before Miami-Dade County Court on May 20.
According to reports, the livestream appeared to show Peters firing at what viewers believed was a dead alligator while traveling through the Everglades. The footage sparked widespread criticism online, with many users condemning the apparent reckless use of firearms and treatment of wildlife.
Peters’ legal team has denied wrongdoing, claiming the influencer was acting under the guidance of a licensed airboat operator during the excursion. His attorneys also stated that no people or animals were harmed during the incident.
The controversy adds to a growing list of public incidents involving the influencer. Peters has recently faced scrutiny following reports of a brief jail stay linked to an alleged assault case, as well as concern from viewers after a suspected overdose occurred during a livestream.
He also made headlines earlier this year after abruptly walking out of a televised interview when questioned about his alleged association with internet personality Andrew Tate.
The “looksmaxxing” movement, which focuses on improving physical appearance and perceived attractiveness, has gained significant traction online in recent years, particularly among younger male audiences. Critics, however, have raised concerns about the community’s links to toxic masculinity, extreme self-image pressures and controversial online influencers.
As legal proceedings move forward, the case is expected to draw continued attention due to Peters’ large online following and history of viral controversies.
